16-17 November 2017
Agroforestry Conference in Sweden
About 200 people attended the 2017 Agroforestry Conference at the Swedish University of Agricultural Science at Alnarp in Sweden. This was a well-organised and interactive conference and the delegates came from a wide-range of sectors and countries.
The talks included presentations by Karin Eksvärd who was the coordinating expert in the EIP-Agri Focus Group on Agroforestry. Paul Burgess, from the AGFORWARD project, gave a key note presentation on “Agroforestry in Europe: Practice, research and policy” on the morning of 16 November. Paul also made an afternoon presentation on “How can policy promote the uptake of agroforestry in Europe?” in a parallel session focused on “The role of agroforestry in the global Agenda 2030 – examples of policies and implementation in different contexts”. Other speakers included Professor Ingrid Öborn who is the ICRAF Regional co-ordinator for Southeast Asia and Professor André Goncalves from the Instituto Federal Catarinense in Brazil. On the last day, Paul also contributed to a panel on the future development of agroforestry in a Swedish and European perspective.
The conference included numerous interactive world café sessions and speakers and delegates were kept busy.
